Women’s Health Student Internship

We are seeking a medical or public health student to design a women’s health curriculum for health educators working with a nongovernmental organization in Guatemala.

Responsibilities:

  • Accompany a nurse educator to teaching sessions in rural communities
  • Document and organize teaching sessions and material
  • Design an educational curriculum for future use with other health educators

Benefits:

  • Work-related costs paid by host organization (e.g., transportation to and from communities, photocopies/materials)
  • Experience with a vanguard indigenous health organization working in rural Latin America

Requirements:

  • High proficiency in Spanish
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Technological competency to create curricular documents (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Experience working with marginalized communities
  • Ability to work both independently and with a diverse team
  • Available for 4+ continuous weeks between May – July 2015
  • Independent funding for travel and living costs

Recommended qualities:

  • Interest or professional experience in women’s health
  • Community health education experience
  • Experience working with nongovernmental organizations
  • Interest in social justice
  • Experience working with or interest in indigenous communities
